Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 10 runs in the 59th match of the IPL 2025 season in a thrilling match held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 18, 2025. With this win, PBKS have come closer to making it to the playoffs, while RR’s campaign faces more challenges.

PBKS, who won the toss and came out to bat first, lost the wickets of their top three batsmen – Prabhsimran Singh (21), Priyansh Arya (9) and Mitchell Owen (0) in the early overs. However, a brilliant partnership between Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer took over the innings. Wadhera played an aggressive innings of 70 runs off 37 balls and Iyer played an innings of 30 runs to lay the foundation for a strong score. Shashank Singh’s unbeaten 59 and Azmatullah Umarzai’s quickfire 21 helped PBKS post a challenging total of 219/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 220, RR’s innings was led by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit a quickfire 50 off 25 balls. Despite a good start, RR lost wickets at crucial junctures, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi contributing 40 runs. The middle order struggled to maintain momentum against PBKS’ disciplined bowling attack, especially Harpreet Brar, who took crucial wickets.
